Hallejuah, the Bay Area has been blessed with PLENTY of rain over the past three months and March was no exception. I am really hoping (as I do every year) that all of this rains improves our drought to fire ratio and that our summers aren’t quite as dry. I never thought I would say this, but I think we are officially all rained out. This month we finally got to have some glorious sunshiney spring days and it was heavenly. March also brought a wedding trip to Arizona, a 50 mile race in the Marin headlands for Sam, spring break for the kids (which was very much a staycation situation) and various races for our high schoolers. Here then is a bit of life in March:
Sam ran MUC (the Marin Ultra Challenge) in early March. You can read my recap of the race here.
Our friend Ron was deployed to Afghanistan for six months. We went to a little get together with some friends to wish him well before he left. Stay safe, Ron!
We traveled to Arizona to see Thomas and Elizabeth tie the Knot forever. It was the BEST trip; you can read my trip recap here. We love those two.
Our valley showed off mustard fields and hallejuah this is my favorite time of year with all of the color and GREEN. All of the rain has been worth it to see these sights. I just have to remember to take my allergy meds each day in March and April because…mustard fields :).
Sadie turned 10! She requested tri-tip with bacon wrapped asparagus for dinner and a mint chocolate ice cream cake from Coldstone. All she wanted for her birthday was clothing so Sophie and I went out with her one night before her birthday and had a mini shopping spree. Sadie is so interesting to shop with. She has a VERY definite opinion of what she wants and what she feels good in and the only way to really buy clothes for her is if she is standing there with you. Gone are the days of finding something and just leaving it on her bed; she really wants to make her own fashion decisions and I love it. Her favorite present was a “leather” pinkish-rose gold jacket from Target that she had her eye on for a month. It reads a little Michael Jackson circa 1984 but whatever. She loves it :).
These two helped me with a collaboration for Squeezamals and they couldn’t have been better models. Sometimes these two are really fun to work with. And those smiles? Please!!!!
Lots of track meets this month for Sophie. Her high point was hitting a 6:06 mile. Now she is looking to come in under 6 minutes and I know that she will get there. Having your high schoolers kids in sports is the greatest thing. Especially running.
Simon PR’d his two mile with a 9:43 at the Dublin Distance Fiesta in March. That meet is the largest distance track meet for high schoolers in the country and we are lucky to have it so close by. It is a great event and is run extremely well. The top athletes in the Bay Area are there so competition is fierce and it is a great place to PR. Simon dropped his 9:43 to a 9:42 a week later after this event.
Downloading with some of the coaches after Dublin. Simon is fortunate to be able to work with three coaches and get additional input from a fourth. We are grateful for these awesome men who pour so much knowledge and passion into coaching and are really shaping Simon into an elite athlete. He couldn’t do what he does without all of them.
I tried to spend a lot of time out here (mainly when it wasn’t raining). I strung up those hanging lights in the last photo and it took entirely too long but oh well. I like how it turned out 🙂
That’s it for the month of March. See you back at Small Squares for the April download!
