June brought the end of school for our family (and Sophie promoted from 8th grade), Sam’s race, the teenagers youth conference which was a Trek this year, a quick trip to Long Beach with Simon and Sophie for an allergy immunology up dosing (Simon started peanuts on this trip! Eeeek!!!) and a longer trip to Virginia to see my parents; I brought Simon along for that one. Having the kids home during the day has meant some changes to the schedule (as well as changing some personal expectations to 1) keep things cleaned up and 2) get any measure of work accomplished) and we are almost in a good routine. With that said, here are a few small squares of what June has been like! Enjoy 🙂
Sophie’s promotion/graduation from 8th grade was exciting for her. She had an amazing two years in middle school and is SO excited to hit high school in the fall. She pulled together her whole graduation outfit and was the classiest looking girl there.
During our VERY quick trip to Long Beach we picked up a French Bulldog to deliver from a breeder to our good friends in Santa Clarita. We had never traveled with a 7 week old puppy before but our friends trusted us so we just went with it! Everything went perfectly (except for when that sweet puppy peed all over Sophie. Except for that :).
We continued on to Miller Children’s Hospital for Simon’s next immunology appointment which went great…until I left ALL of his dosing for the next six weeks in the lobby of the hospital. Thank goodness all of his information was on the front of the bag and good hospital people got in touch with us right away. Also thank goodness for Fed Ex overnight :). Here is information about the extraordinary program Simon is a part of. To say that it is saving his life from the threat of terrible food allergies is no understatement. We are forever in debt to Dr. Randhawa, his staff and the amazing program they have developed.
We spent the night with Carrie and her family and it was SO good to see them again. There is never enough time. Carrie even took Sophie on a four mile trail run the next morning before we headed out.
Larry’s Produce opened and now balance has been restored to my world. When you juice as much as I do, having a fantastic farmers market down the road is pretty integral to juicing success. I wish they stayed open all year, but I will settle for their schedule of June-December.
Sam and I spent an evening in Port Costa, my favorite place in the whole Bay Area. Whenever I go I get inspired to create something/explore something new. Plus our dinner at Bull Valley Roadhouse knocked it out of the park yet again; best food in the entire Bay Area.
That’s about all for June; see you in Small Squares for July next month!
