Bathroom Refresh with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan

Bathroom Refresh with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan

If you have been with me for awhile you have no doubt heard of my love for Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan. Remember this post from last winter? There is something in every room of my house with Chalk Paint® on it: doors, furniture, built-in cabinets, even fabric. I have been painting furniture and rooms since I was a teenager and have tried every single home decor paint on the market. I can honestly say there is none better than Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan simply because of the EASE it applies with. You don’t need to be a professional (which clearly I am NOT); you don’t even need to be fastidious with your surface prep. Just open the can of paint and go! For someone like me who tends to be a little ADD with my approach to decorating, Chalk Paint® is the perfect medium for me to let loose with my creativity in the moment and on the spot.

When I decided a few months ago to refresh the kids bathroom by redoing the color of their bathroom vanity, I knew exactly where to turn.

^^^The color of our “before” kids bathroom vanity was pretty but ultimately not what I wanted for that room. Time to switch out the red for Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan in Greek Blue…

^^^Ready to go with Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan in Greek Blue!
^^^Isn’t this color gorgeous? Also, if you need a beautiful brush for painting look no further than these Annie Sloan Flat Brushes; these are my favorite to work with whenever I am painting furniture.
^^^Taped up and ready to go!

I got the walls, mirror and tile floors taped up with blue painters tape and got to work. Remember, there is no need to prime your surface with Chalk Paint®; just open the can and go. I did not prime the red paint away, nor did I rough up the surface at all. I just started painting. I did two coats and it was perfect after the second coat.

^^^Here we are after the first coat. The concrete counter tops came with the house when we bought it ten years ago. We try to work with it 🙂

And here we are after the last coat!  The final step with this painting project was adding Clear Chalk Paint® Wax.

I applied one coat with the Chalk Paint® Wax Brush, then wiped away the excess wax with a clean cotton cloth. I made sure to work in small areas so that my coverage and wipe up was neat. I came back about 24 hours later and took another clean cotton cloth and just buffed the wax shine on the entire vanity to finish it. For some tips on how to apply wax to Chalk Paint® please go here to watch a helpful tutorial. The completed bathroom vanity turned out beautifully!

In addition to our paint update, I made a few new decorative additions to the space:

^^^Reclaimed wood wallpaper from Target; rainbow felt ball garland from World Market, faux grass from Michaels.
^^^I feel badly but I can’t remember where I got this Yosemite canvas print! I think it was TJ Maxx or Home Goods but seriously cannot remember…
^^^I made those pompoms; they hang next to the curtain at the bathroom window.

Once again, I am so happy with how my paint project turned out thanks to Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan. If you haven’t tried Chalk Paint® yet or have been on the fence about mixing up your decorative paint options please try it! You will not be sorry! I ended up loving this Greek Blue color so much I am already scheming to add it to a few other pieces in our home. Check out ALL of the colors available in the Annie Sloan line! There are a ton, right?

Are you feeling inspired to make a change to a room in your house? Is a bathroom vanity of your own feeling neglected? Grab a brush and a can of Chalk Paint® and make some colorful changes!
