A “Good to Know” Roundup!

A “Good to Know” Roundup!

Have you spent any time on my Pinterest boards? I joined Pinterest back in late 2010 when it was still by invite only and fell in love immediately. I quickly realized this was my kind of platform! I have always loved perusing catalogues and was frequently guilty of ripping pages and ads out of magazines to store for inspiration later on. Pinterest digitized some of my favorite inspiration gathering!

Apparently I have 78 boards and 4,345 pins…so I’ve been a fairly active Pinterest user over the last nine years. Most of my boards are either travel or home decor/lifestyle related because those are where the bulk of my interests lie. BUT. I have been keeping a board called “Good to Know” wherein lies my favorite tips, hacks, interesting information, how to set a table, use proper grammar when writing, change a tire, understand differing governing models – that kind of stuff. I thought it might be helpful to share these golden nuggets with all of YOU! I will break out some of my favorites and link not only to the pin on my board but to the associated article/site for each hint. Shall we begin?

Number One: Language and Grammar

I am a writer and editor so proper language and grammar in written form are my jam. I have a few pins that really spell out (haha language joke) punctuation, proper grammar, parts of speech – all of that jazz.

First up in this category a helpful punctuation chart:

This particular pin just goes to a site with a PDF you can order of the infographic.

Next is something teachers call an Anchor Chart with a helpful breakdown of when and where to use appropriate commas:

Finally, here is a pin that is like a thesaurus for the word ‘very’.

Words to use instead of "very" helpful for writing Sara Stubbert www.dwellingbydesignstudio.com Dwelling by Design Studio

If you’re anything like me, you also use the word ‘very’ waaaaaaaay to often. Here are some ways to get out of that rut! This pin doesn’t go to a helpful site but is great to review so that you can up your language game.

Number Two: Coping Skills and Mental Health

We could all use a little more help in the self-care and mental health department. I appreciated these pins for the ease that ideas were presented and good associated info.

First up is an infographic with 50 Coping Skills for Kids…but this can easily be applied to teens and adults as well. Such good info in here and this would be great blown up and framed for home or school.

Number 4: Helpful Household Hints

I’m closing out this Good to Know roundup with some pins that are helpful household tips:

How to set a proper table Sara Stubbert www.dwellingbydesignstudio.com

My mom, bless her long suffering heart, tried for YEARS and YEARS to teach me how to set a proper table and at the age of 44 I still do not know. I make it up every single time. This pin is specifically for me and people like me. Want to learn how to set a proper table? This pin is for you. And me. Of course me 🙂

How to change a tire Sara Stubbert www.dwellingbydesignstudio.com

OK be honest: have you ever changed a tire? Did you know what you were doing??? To date, I have never changed a tire. I hope I never have to to (please come and help me Geico…) but this infographic is still really helpful!

That’s all for now. I add to my Good to Know board regularly so please check in over there for about 1468 more fabulous tips!
